Services

Our services

  • We offer door to door service (includes all transportation costs). It does not include customs expenses and taxes, which will be paid by the addressee.
  • The "no documents" service may have a longer delivery time than documentation at some destination customs. If they generate government tax costs, these charges will be borne by the recipient. We offer to pick up your shipments from Monday to Friday or by call, depending on your needs.
  • Any “non-document” shipment must be accompanied by a customs declaration, commercial invoice, or pro-forma invoice to prove its value to customs authorities.

  • In some countries/destinations, items like cassettes, videos, credit cards, negatives and checkbooks are considered subject to tax payments.
  • Copa Courier handles documents, merchandise and commercial samples up to a weight of 30 kilograms and if the client wishes to transport additional kilos to those established, they can pay an additional cost per kilo. The procedures to those established, can pay an additional cost per kilo. The procedures with customs are carried out by the user or his customs agent.
  • The receivable weight of the shipment will be established according to the actual weight or the volumetric weight, whichever is greater. To calculate the volumetric weight, the formula is used: (Length x Width x Height)cm ÷ 5000 = Kilos​. Carrying out this calculation allows us to make the most of the spaces in our aircraft.

Prohibited content

  • Cash money.
  • Blank checks.
  • Firearms and/or their parts.
  • Narcotics.
  • Pornography.
  • Animals.
  • Flammable or hazardous materials as established by IATA.
  • Plants.
  • Identity documents (identities and licenses).
  • Antiques.
  • Human Remains in Ashes.
  • Counterfeit or imitation merchandise.
  • Goods that are prohibited by any regulation of the destination country.
  • Merchandise with packaging in poor condition or with exposed content.
  • Infectious biological samples.
  • Loose batteries or cells under UN3090 (Lithium metal batteries) and UN3480 (Lithium ion batteries).

Restricted content

  • Jewels and precious materials.
  • Liqueur.
  • Drugs or pharmaceuticals, medical samples.
  • Perishable Products.
  • Liquids.
  • Groceries.
  • Tobacco.
  • Biological samples.
  • Ceramic (it is mandatory that the client signs the disclaimer).
  • Credit cards (a letter from the bank is required indicating that it is deactivated).
  • Passports (only through the Embassy / prohibited to the United States).
  • Lithium Ion Batteries in Equipment (UN 3481) meeting the provisions of Section II of Packing Instruction 967 and Lithium Metal Batteries in Equipment (UN 3091) meeting the provisions of Section II of Packing Instruction 970 .
  • No more than four batteries or two batteries per package can be sent by Courier.
  • The following are not accepted for transport: defective, reconditioned, restored lithium ion batteries, nor those intended for exchange, recycling or disposal purposes, whether transported individually or as part of a team.

Formal claims

In the event that your package arrives late, incomplete, damaged, looted or in poor condition, the following is required to present your formal claim:

  • Formal claim letter where the amount to be claimed is quantified addressed to the Copa Courier Claims Department.
  • Attach a copy of the air waybill and a copy of the purchase invoice (in the case of items). This documentation is essential to start the claim process and the investigation corresponding to your case.
  • Your case will go to the claims committee where it will be analyzed according to the investigations and you will be provided with a response regarding the incident.

​​Types of claims

The Warsaw Convention is applicable to our shipments and limits Copa Airlines' liability for damage, loss or delay.

  • Claim for delay in delivery: It occurs when the courier does not comply with the transit time agreed with the client, whether it is 24 hours, 48 hours. or 72 hrs. For delay, the maximum limit of our responsibility is the return of the freight paid.​
  • Claim for loss: A shipment will be declared lost when, after conducting a thorough search, it cannot be located. The customer must present his claim within 120 days from the date of issuance of the air waybill. In the event that the shipment is not insured, the customer will be reimbursed US $9.07 per pound.​
  • Claim for looting, theft or lack of content: We will assume responsibility for this type of claim, when the difference in weight is verified.​​
  • Claim for damage: The customer must file his claim immediately upon discovery of the damage and no later than 14 days after receipt of the goods in case the shipment is missing.

Declared Value for Transportation

​​​​Declared value of transportation: The responsibility of Copa Courier is limited to the payment of US $9.07 per pound according to the Warsaw Convention. Unless the shipper declares a value for additional transportation, it may be equal to, but not greater than, the value declared by customs. This service allows you to protect your shipment for a maximum amount of US $650.00. The minimum amount to pay is US $5.00 to protect your shipment for US $100.00. For greater protection, the client will pay US $0.50 cents for each US $50.00 of the declared value.

Contract Conditions

  • Each air waybill sent by us must be signed by the client and will be established in the Copa Courier service contract and the sender.​
  • No type of claim will be accepted when the shipments are:
    1. - Cash money.
    2. - Real value under-declared or not insured.
    3. - Damages due to inadequate packaging.
  • Our company is not responsible for indirect damages or losses resulting from an involuntary delay in the transit time of the packages.

Additional charges

  • ​By Collect (Collect): A charge of US $ 5.00 will be added for each shipment with cash on delivery (restrictions apply). If the consignee of a collect shipment refuses to pay the handling charges, the shipper must pay the charges for returning the shipment and any other expenses incurred during the return process.
  • Charge of US $10.00 for air waybill correction.
  • Charges may apply for deliveries outside the coverage perimeter of Copa Airlines Courier.
  • Perishables: An additional handling charge for perishable products of US $10.00 will apply (destination restrictions apply).
  • US $25.00 charge for change of address.
  • Charge of US $10.00 for Hard Copy printing or proof of delivery.​
